“What does it mean to be a man”? This question has been debated since the beginning of time, but I still believe it's a very important question for everyone to be able to answer. Here are my thoughts:
First, I want to tell you what I think being a man isn't. Being a man doesn't mean that you need a long and thick beard (though long and thick beards are cool). A man isn't someone that fixes everything. A man doesn't have to have an answer for everything. A man isn’t always the loudest in the room. A man isn’t someone that can lift a bunch of weights. A man isn’t someone that always knows exactly what to do in a difficult situation. And lastly, just being a "man" isn't enough...
I believe there is more to manhood than traditional stereotypes. I believe you have to be God fearing, Jesus loving, and people honoring.
What does this look like?
Being able to ask questions you don’t know the answer to.
Admitting when you’ve made a mistake.
Standing up for what’s right even if it’s the unpopular thing to do.
Listening more than you speak.
Empathizing more than you criticize.
Being a friend to everybody.
Taking up for others that can’t or won’t take up for themselves.
Most importantly, just loving people.
The greatest man to ever walk on planet earth changed the course of history through His love for others.
